Welcome to the Town of Oyster Bay Building Division Portal

This portal enables Registrants and Contractors to submit and track common “Fast Order” or “Instant” permits.  Available services include permit application entry, fee payment, permit monitoring and responses, inspection scheduling and inspection result monitoring.

Create an Online Account

Homeowners/Residents/Expeditors looking to create available permit applications must register an account with us. Click here to create an account BEFORE attempting to apply for Permits.

Existing Contractors: If you are a contractor who has previously transacted business with the Town of Oyster Bay Department of Planning and Development, you will need to provide a valid email address so we can activate your account.  Please complete the Contractor Activation Form and send via email to planninganddevelopment@oysterbay-ny.gov. Please enter “Existing Contractor Activation” in the subject line of the email. Once we activate your account, the Town will email you instructions on how to create your password and log in to the system.

New Contractors and Registered Design Professionals: Please complete the New Contractor Registration and send via email along with the required insurance documents to planninganddevelopment@oysterbay-ny.gov. Please enter “New Contractor Registration” in the subject line of the email.

NEW Plumbers and Electricians – Please contact (516) 624-6217 for the required information/paperwork needed to apply for a Town of Oyster Bay license.

 

Application Process and Checklists

STEP ONE: DETERMINE THE PERMIT TYPE/SUBTYPE YOU NEED

Types of Permits that can be applied for online include:

  • Freestanding Air Conditioning Units
  • Any fence greater than four feet in height, but no more than six feet in height
  • Generator
  • BBQ’s
  • Fire Pits
  • Fire Sprinkler Systems
  • Hot Tubs
  • Hot Water Heaters
  • Inground lawn sprinkler systems
  • Oil and gas heating units
  • Outdoor Kitchens
  • Plumbing fixtures (WITHOUT ANY STRUCTURAL CHANGES)
  • Prefabricated gas fireplaces
  • Propane gas tanks (with necessary prerequisite Nassau County Fire Marshal approval)
  • Swimming pool heaters
  • Solar panels
  • Sewer hookups, Leaching pools, Septic tanks

STEP TWO: GATHER ALL NEEDED MATERIALS

Prior to applying for a permit please review the submittal checklists below and have the appropriate required documents ready to upload with your submittal.

At a minimum, all permits require a complete signed and notarized Application for Permit-to-Build-or-Install as well as a notarized Applicant Disclosure Affidavit from the Applicant, Homeowner, and all Contractors.

Each checklist will identify any additional documentation required to be submitted with the permit application. Incomplete or missing documentation will delay the permit review process.
