Town and Police Officials Launch ‘Back the Blue’ Ribbon Campaign

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino joined with local officials and police officers to launch a ‘Back the Blue’ ribbon campaign in recognition of Police Appreciation Week, a national recognition celebration in honor of men and women in blue. National Police Week honors law enforcement officers who service to protect the safety of our communities, as well as those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The Supervisor was joined by Councilman Lou Imbroto and Receiver of Taxes Jeff Pravato, as well as representatives from the Nassau County PBA, the Superior Officers Association, the Detectives Association and the Correction Officers Association.

“The Town’s ‘Back the Blue’ ribbon campaign encourages residents to show their support for men and women in blue by decorating their homes, businesses, storefronts or trees with blue ribbon,” said Supervisor Saladino. “We believe this message is especially as important as many of the law enforcement officers living in our neighborhoods continue to face anti-police sentiment and, even crazier, calls to defund the police.”

“It’s thanks to the men and women in law enforcement that we enjoy the quality of life that we do, and that we are fortunate enough to live in the safest large suburban county in America,” said Councilman Imbroto. “When you dial 911 to safeguard your family, protect your home or during a health emergency, it’s our police officers who are there to help.”
