The Town of Oyster Bay has been a member of the Nassau County Consortium for federal funding under the Community Development Block Grant Program since 1979.
Funding for eligible activities under the Community Development Block Grant Program include the following activities:
Residential Rehabilitation
This program is for seniors and handicapped homeowners who meet the federal income guidelines as established by the federal government to ensure that their homes are safe comfortable and warm. Examples of work include but may not be limited to removal of architectural barriers, replacement of windows, doors, roofs, heating and hot water systems. Cosmetic repairs are not eligible for funding.
Public Facilities & Improvements
Funding may be available for public improvement projects in areas designated predetermined by the federal government.
Commercial Rehabilitation
Funding may be available for façade and signage programs in areas designated predetermined by the federal government.
Public Services
The Town of Oyster Bay funds a variety of public services agencies with Community Development funds. Assistance is provided to the following types of organizations:
- Youth and family counseling services
- Nutrition programs for seniors and veteran organizations
- Health services provided to the Town of Oyster Bay’s 10 Housing Authority complexes.
- Senior organizations that provide the Town’s senior residences with socialization activities.
