Town to Host Lunar New Year Celebration

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board will host a Lunar New Year celebration to commemorate the Year of the Dragon on February 12nd at 6:30pm at Oyster Bay Town Hall. The celebration will include special performances by The Fortune Star Band, comprised of middle and high school students from both the Syosset and Jericho School Districts; Sitan Tai Chi & Martial Arts’ Youth Tai Chi Program; Yes I Can Performing Arts Center; and H.B. Thompson Middle School students performing the Dragon Dance.

 

Supervisor Joseph Saladino stated, “In recognition of the Year of the Dragon, we will gather to celebrate the vast contributions of Asian Americans to our society, along with proud heritage and cultures. We will share stories of our ancestors and connect to one another with the goal of gaining a greater appreciation of diverse and shared values. Together, our diversity and inclusion of one another’s heritage builds a stronger and more vibrant community.”
