Town To Host First-Ever Chinese New Year Celebration at Town Hall

To ring in the Chinese New Year of the Tiger, Supervisor Joseph Saladino and members of the Town Board invite residents to attend the Town’s first ever Chinese New Year Celebration at Town Hall. Held in partnership with the South Asian Advisory Board and numerous Chinese-American Community Groups, the event will feature traditional Chinese decorations, cuisines, and cultural rituals, in addition to a presentation from leaders of the Chinese-American Community.

“The Chinese New Year is the oldest and most important festival in China, as it is a time of unifying celebration for millions of Chinese people and recognizes the Chinese culture’s wonderful diversity, splendor, and richness on the world stage,” said Supervisor Saladino. “It is my honor to bring this amazing holiday to Town Hall for the first time in our Town’s history. I hope you will join me at this event, along with numerous organizations dedicated to preserving Chinese Heritage in our community, to celebrate the Year of the Tiger.”

The Town’s Celebration will be held on February 2, 2022 at 7pm in the Town Board Meeting Room of Oyster Bay Town Hall, located at 54 Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay. Attendees are asked to wear something of the color red to the event, as it is the dominant color of the Chinese New Year and is said to usher an era of good fortune. There is no charge to attend the event.
