Town Partners with Professional Experts to Offer Free Small Business Startup Advice

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino today announced that the Town of Oyster Bay, through the Workforce Partnership program, will be welcoming SCORE Group LI to the Massapequa Career Center as they set up an office to offer residents free mentoring sessions on how to start a small business, and how to help a small business in need of assistance. The Town’s Massapequa Career Center is located at Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, in Massapequa.

“The Town of Oyster Bay’s Career Center provides valuable resources to both employers and job seekers. In additional to helping residents find employment opportunities, the Center assists in job creation by offering businesses on-the-job employee training, assistance with personnel recruiting and free consultation with Business Services Specialists for development of business solutions,” said Supervisor Saladino. “We are proud to expand our services through a partnership with SCORE Group LI and their talented professionals who will offer small business mentoring and training services, free of charge.”

The SCORE Group LI – a nonprofit organization with 10,000 volunteers and business experts and more than 2,000 offices in communities across America – is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. SCORE Group LI, the Long Island chapter of the SCORE Association, provides small business mentoring and training services to the community, and currently provides such services at 15 public and private facilities throughout Long Island.

The Town of Oyster Bay and SCORE LI will partner to conduct mentoring sessions for Town residents who want to start a business, and for small business that need assistance. The volunteer mentors will conduct face to face meetings, at no charge to Town residents.

This program is coordinated by the Workforce Partnership program, through the Town’s Department of Intergovernmental Affairs, Division of Employment and Training.
