In continuing their ongoing commitment to further establish transparency in the Town of Oyster Bay, Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board this week hosted a special meeting to review applications for concession and restaurant services at TOBAY Beach. The meeting, held in the hearing room at Town Hall and live-streamed to the public through the Town’s website, included presentations by applicants interested in operating the concessions and restaurants at TOBAY Beach this summer.
“The Town Board and I pledged to shed sunlight on government and this open process further demonstrated our commitment to complete transparency,” stated Supervisor Saladino. “The process began with a public request for proposals, an independent financial review of the respondents, public presentations of the proposals and open deliberations by the Town Board before selecting concessionaires.”
This Town Board’s special meeting and work sessions took place on Thursday, March 21, 2019 and was held completely before the public, including the deliberations and selection process, which included public presentations, public comment from residents, and ultimately ended with the selection of two separate vendors to operate food establishments at TOBAY this summer. Evaluation criteria for selection of these entities included the company’s overall capabilities, their experience, operational ability, financial capability, and fee and price structure. The Town Board ultimately selected Island Time Hospitality Group to run the waterfront restaurants at TOBAY’s bayside, and J&B Restaurant Partners to operate the concessions on the beaches ocean-side and marina.
“From day one, our goal has been to provide residents with the best food and beverage services at TOBAY Beach in a way that is affordable and enhances the overall beach experience,” added Supervisor Saladino. “Holding this entire process in public allowed for resident participation, with the highest focus on complete transparency, accountability and deliverability.”
