Oyster Bay Town Councilman Tom Hand invites residents to take part in Summer Athletic Programs for basketball, badminton, and volleyball, beginning on July 6th at the Hicksville Athletic Center. Registration for the programs will take place from 5:30pm – 9:30pm at the Hicksville Athletic Center, 167 Broadway in Hicksville on: Monday, June 7th, Tuesday, June 8th, and on Thursday, June 10th. All athletic programs are co-ed and open to individuals 18 and over.
“The Town’s summer athletic programs offer a great opportunity for residents to take to the court, improve their skills and make new friends,” said Councilman Hand. “These programs are a great way for residents to get in some exercise in a fun and safe setting with all proper restrictions and public health guidelines put into place in light of the ongoing pandemic.”
Basketball will feature three sessions available to choose from: Thursdays from 9:00pm to 10:30pm; Saturdays from 7:30am to 9:00am; and Sundays from 7:30am to 9:30am. The Basketball program is 10-weeks long and costs $25 for residents and $40 for non-residents, with the program scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 8th.
Badminton will feature two sessions available for registrants to choose from. The first session consists of Tuesdays from 8:45pm to 10:15pm; Fridays from 8:45pm to 10:15pm; and Sundays from 6:45pm to 8:45pm. The second session consists of Tuesdays from 10:15pm to 11:45pm, Fridays from 10:15pm to 11:45pm, and Sundays from 8:45pm to 10:45pm. The Badminton program is 10-weeks long and costs $75 for residents and $100 for non-residents, with the program scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 6th.
Volleyball will be split into two different sessions. The first session will be held on Mondays from 8:45pm to 10:15pm; Wednesdays from 8:45pm to 10:15pm; and Saturdays from 6:45pm to 8:45pm. The second session will take place on Mondays from 10:15pm to 11:45pm, Wednesdays from 10:15pm to 11:45pm, and Saturdays from 8:45pm to 10:45pm. The volleyball program is 10-weeks long, costs residents $75 and $100 for non-residents, and is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 7th.
Proof of residency is required for the resident discount. The schedule is subject to change. If a session is cancelled, make-up day(s) will be attempted. In light of the ongoing pandemic, class enrollment will be limited to allow for proper social distancing, temperatures will be checked upon entry, masks must be worn as long as State mandates require such, and there will be daily sanitizing before and after class.
