Supervisor Saladino and Town Clerk LaMarca join with students at Ratner-Seaman Elementary School in Jericho to plant a tree in celebration of Janice Zhou’s winning of the Town’s Environmental Poster Contest.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino joined Town Clerk Rich LaMarca to recognize the winner of the Town of Oyster Bay Environmental Poster Contest, Janice Zhou who is a student at Ratner-Seaman Elementary School in Jericho. Janice’s artwork earned the top prize for her attention to detail and creativity, and she was awarded with a tree planting alongside her classmates and educators.

Supervisor Saladino stated, “This contest is a fantastic way to inspire young minds about the importance of protecting the planet and preserving our natural resources. Congratulations Janice! As you grow along with this tree, may you continue to make a positive difference for our environment every day!”

The Town’s Environmental Poster Contest, now in its sixth year, helps raise awareness of environmentally sensitive issues and how they impact Mother Nature and local communities. This year, fourth grade students from across the Town were invited to visually depict awareness of how bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators play a big role in making flowers bloom, producing food and supporting ecosystems we all depend on.
