Saladino Announces Return of Youth Dek Hockey League for Fall 2021

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino today announced that the Town’s Dek Hockey League will return for the fall season. The league will kick off this September and is open to boys and girls aged 6-14.

Dek hockey is a variation of traditional ice hockey, where the games are played sans skates on the ‘dek’ of an ice rink after the ice has melted away for the season. The season will feature 10 games and practices over a 10-week period concluding with a playoff competition.

“Boys and girls aged 6-14 who are enrolled in the Town’s Youth Dek Hockey League will have a great opportunity to not only improve their hockey skills, but to also learn important life lessons like good sportsmanship from our talented and dedicated coaching staff,” Supervisor Saladino said. “Dek Hockey is a really fun variation of traditional ice hockey, and I am excited for the boys and girls of our Town who will give this program a try!”

Registration will take place at the Allen Park Community Room (45 Motor Ave, Farmingdale) on Tuesday, August 17th from 4:30PM-8PM, and at Syosset Woodbury Community Park (In the Skatehouse) on Wednesday, August 18th from 4:30PM-8PM. The program will cost $95 for residents, and $110 for non-residents. Each child will need to provide their own equipment, a list of which will be supplied upon registration.

Families must provide proof of residency and a copy of their child’s birth certificate at registration. Only checks or money orders made payable to “Town of Oyster Bay” will be accepted. If a session is canceled due to inclement weather, make-up day(s) will be attempted. For more information, please call (516) 797-7945.
