The Division of Marine Enforcement administers and supervise the operation and control of the Bay Constables, oversees the placement of moorings in Town waters, performs marine patrol duties, and enforces codes and ordinances relating to boating safety, including Chapter 241 of the Code of the Town of Oyster Bay, entitled Waterways. The division’s Bay Constables (South Shore-797-7986; North Shore-624-6201) offer a wide range of services to the boating public and enforce State laws and Town ordinances, particularly with regard to speeding and operating a boat while intoxicated. In addition, the Bay Constables, in conjunction with the Coast Guard and the Nassau County Marine Police, provide emergency rescue services.
