Town Invites All Residents to Unite and Celebrate Patriotism With Displays of Red White and Blue

Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Town Councilwoman Laura Maier invite residents to express their patriotism and the American Spirit in advance of the upcoming Independence Day holiday.

“We’re experiencing some trying times in our world over the last few months, and bringing back our patriotic spirit can unite us as Americans,” said Councilwoman Maier. “We hope our residents will join us in displaying their patriotism, whether it’s decorating their homes, purchasing gift certificates from local businesses, and thanking those who have fought on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis.”

Residents are encouraged to decorate their homes in red, white and blue with lights, flags or other decorations from July 1st to 14th.  The Town of Oyster Bay will also illuminate Town Hall in those colors. Residents are encouraged to submit their decorated home photos to the Town by emailing stories@oysterbay-ny.gov.  Residents will be invited to vote for their favorite displays of patriotism and the top three homes will receive complimentary beach passes for the 2021 season.

To support our economic recovery, residents are also encouraged to make purchases of $17.76 or more from small businesses and present them to neighbors, friends, essential workers and family members who have helped during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Photos of gifts being delivered are also encouraged for submission.

“Our overall goal is to unite the community through patriotism and love while supporting our local economy and recognizing those who helped us turn the corner on the pandemic,” added Supervisor Saladino. “Buying gift certificates or items from small businesses is also an important way for us to show our local merchants how thankful we are for their American entrepreneurial spirit.”
