Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino today announced that the Town of Oyster Bay’s Division of Employment and Training, in partnership with New York State’s Department of Labor Disabled Veteran’s Outreach Programs, will host Operation: Hope, a mobile food pantry run by Island Harvest. Operation: Hope is a mobile food van that supports Long Island veterans and military families in need of food assistance and will be on hand at Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road in Massapequa, on Thursday, June 20th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

As a result of this travelling program, 60 veterans are able to receive food every month on Long Island. “The goal of Operation: Hope is to connect with veterans and military families to veteran services and other social benefits to help the families of our servicemen and women,” explained Supervisor Saladino. “The food is delivered by a veteran who is sensitive to the needs of other veterans and their families. I commend Island Harvest for running this extraordinary program and all of their ongoing efforts on Long Island to provide food for those in need.”

 

Supervisor Saladino said he and his colleagues on the Oyster Bay Town Board are proud to stand behind America’s veterans by hosting Operation: Hope. “Our veterans deserve the continuing support of the entire community for the extraordinary sacrifices they’ve made to keep America the Land of the Free,” Supervisor Saladino said. “This program is one of the small ways our community comes together to thank veterans and remind them that they will always be remembered, supported and appreciated.”
