Town of Oyster Bay Councilman Steve Labriola announced that the Town will place sunscreen dispensers at local pool and beach facilities in advance of the summer season. This are being provided free-of-charge for Town residents.
“Skin cancer is a national health issue, and prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light from the son is the leading preventable cause of skin cancer,” Councilman Labriola said. “Through the introduction of 16 dispensers at various beach and pool locations, the Town will help residents find a convenient way to help prevent this chronic disease.”
Dispensers will be set up in cooperation with Syosset Hospital/Plainview Hospital-Northwell Health. In addition to 16 dispensers, the Town will work with the health group to set up an awareness program for residents to help promote a mindfulness of the potential dangers of increased sun exposure.
