Town Councilman Louis B. Imbroto announced that residents interested in having their children attend this year’s Town of Oyster Bay Summer Recreation Program may now contact the Town’s Recreation Division to inquire about registration.
“The Town’s Summer Recreation Program offers children between the ages of four and twelve an exciting summer experience,” Councilman Imbroto said. “Depending on age group, participants take part in trips, tournaments, shows and athletic events, including the always popular Tobay Games.”
The Councilman noted that the program runs from Wednesday, July 5th through Friday, August 11th, and that parents may choose to send their child to either Marjorie R. Post (Massapequa), Plainview-Old Bethpage or Syosset-Woodbury Community Parks, Ellsworth W. Allen Town Park in Farmingdale, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park and Beach in Oyster Bay, or Tappen Beach in Glenwood Landing. Children may attend both the morning and afternoon sessions or just one session, however no supervision is provided for the lunch hour between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., so parents must make arrangements for their children during this time.
The cost for the program is only $300 per child and $100 for each additional child in the same family. For more information, or to receive a registration packet, call the Department of Parks Recreation Division at (516) 797-4125, extension 1. Families with children who participated in last year’s program are automatically sent registration packets. The deadline for registration materials to be received by the Recreation Office is June 16th.
“The Town’s Summer Recreation Program is an excellent opportunity for children to participate in a variety of fun, age-appropriate activities right in their own communities,” Councilman Imbroto noted.
