Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board today announced that the Town will partner with Island Harvest Food Bank and Car Show Long Island to host a special food drive called the “Cruise Thru Food Drop” on Saturday, June 26th (rain date of June 27th), at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. The food drive will run from 9am to 2pm and benefit our neighbors in need during this public health crisis, with the donations going to help and restock local food banks throughout Long Island.
“As the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to impact our fellow Long Island residents, many people are facing a great hardship at this time. The fine work of organizations like Island Harvest touch the lives of so many Long Islanders who are less fortunate, and their work has become more crucial than ever during these uncertain times,” Supervisor Saladino said. “I am proud that the Town will be partnering with Car Show Long Island to host a Cruise Thru Food Drop for our neighbors in need, as this event will not only help provide residents with a fun outlet to give back to those in need, but also practice social distancing while helping to champion a great cause!”
The Town, Island Harvest, and Car Show LI are asking residents to assist by providing the necessities to their neighbors in need of food assistance by donating non-perishable food items and pet food at this event. Show cars and non-show cars alike are welcomed, and proper social distancing guidelines will be followed throughout the course of the event while collecting food donations.
