Saladino Announces Senior Citizen Summer Activities

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino today announced a variety of free weekday senior citizens summer activities offered by the Department of Community and Youth Services (CYS) in community centers throughout the Town. Ballroom dancing, exercise and aquatic classes are just some of the activities seniors can enjoy as part of this year’s program, which runs from July 8th to August 30th.

“I invite our senior residents to participate in these free activities, where they can enjoy the company of others, make new friends, and stay active and engaged during the dog days of summer,” Supervisor Saladino said. “Our senior summer activities are some of the most popular programs the Town offers, and I expect this year to be no different with the expansive and diverse activities that will be offered!”

The following programs are offered:

• Mondays at the Hicksville Community Center: 10am Ballroom Dancing; (12pm-3pm Hicksville Community Center will be open for cards and conversation)

• Tuesdays at Marjorie R. Post Community Center: 10am Exercise; 11:15am Aquatic Class;

• Tuesdays at North Massapequa Community Center: 10:30am Tai Chi; 11:45am Sitting Class; and 1pm Line Dancing. (9:30am-3pm North Massapequa Community Center will be open for cards and conversation)

• Wednesdays at Glen Head Community Center: 9:30am Musical Entertainment; 10:30am Tai Chi, Bingo; On six Wednesdays only, July 10, 17, 24, 31 and August 7, 14 free transportation will be provided to the Glen Head Community Center from locations throughout the Town for seniors to enjoy the above-mentioned programs.

• Wednesdays at Plainview Old Bethpage Park: 11:15am Aquatic Class.

• Thursdays at Syosset-Woodbury Community Center: 9:30am Intermediate Bridge Lesson; 10am Exercise; 11:15am Aquatic Class; and 12:30pm Play Bridge.

• Thursdays at North Massapequa Community Center: 10am Zumba

• Fridays at North Massapequa Community Center: 9:30am Beginners Bridge Lessons, 10am Tai Chi, 11:30am Line Dancing, 12:30pm Bridge. (9:30am-3pm North Massapequa Community Center will be open for cards and conversation)

• Fridays at Bethpage Community Park: 11:15am Aquatic Class.

• Fridays at Hicksville Community Center: 12:15pm Tai Chi. (9:30am-3pm Hicksville Community Center will be open for cards and conversation)
