Event Scheduled for April 8th at Town Ice Skating Center

In partnership with the New York Rangers, Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joe Saladino and Councilman Lou Imbroto announce a special “Try Hockey for Free” program will take place on Sunday, April 8th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage.  The event offers children a unique opportunity to sample the sport of ice hockey.  The following four morning sessions are available: 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Residents can register children online at https://bit.ly/2GysFtq.

“The New York Rangers Hockey Development Team and Town of Oyster Bay are proud to offer children this free ice hockey clinic taught by seasoned instructors,” said Supervisor Saladino. “The session provides parents an opportunity to assess if the sport of ice hockey is a good fit for their children, without making an initial financial commitment.  Join us in Bethpage and take this chance to share the ice with New York Ranger Alumni.”

“This is a wonderful opportunity for kids to get the chance to play the greatest game on Earth,” said Rangers-legend Adam Graves.  “These are kids that might not otherwise be able to experience the game of hockey.  They are sure to love it and hopefully this ignites a lifelong passion for the sport.”

The “Try Hockey for Free” program is part of a nationwide effort by USA Hockey to provide children of all economic backgrounds, an opportunity to play hockey.  For more information about the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center, please call (516) 797-4110.
