The Town of Oyster Bay is pleased to welcome new Councilman Thomas P. Hand, who was sworn in to the position at the May 23rd Town Board meeting. Tom, a resident of Massapequa Park, is a dedicated, highly organized senior management professional with an extensive background in logistics and human resources. As Oyster Bay Town Councilman, Tom has pledged to bring his business acumen and work ethic to the Town Board.
Thomas P. Hand, a resident of Massapequa Park, has over 25 years of management experience in logistics. As a senior manager for a Fortune 500 Company, he received CEO honors for outstanding contributions in the areas of quality, cost reduction and productivity enhancements. Tom is a dedicated, highly organized senior management professional with an extensive background in logistics and human resources.
Tom has effectively managed multiple locations to meet or exceed budget goals while improving quality and maintaining or increasing morale. As Oyster Bay Town Councilman, Tom has pledged to bring his business acumen and work ethic to the Town Board. His goals include increasing overall operational efficiency, continuing to streamline government costs and protecting the interests of the Town’s taxpayers. He also has a long and distinguished track record protecting the environment, having served as Chairman of the Massapequa Water District Board of Water Commissioners and as an officer on the Executive Board of the Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners Association. As Councilman, Tom has already hit the ground running, working closely with his colleagues on the Town Board, the community and all levels of government in calling for the complete remediation and hydraulic containment of the Grumman Navy Plume.
Tom received a Bachelors degree in business and a Masters degree in Labor Relations and Policy Studies from the SUNY Empire. He also taught at Dowling College as an Adjunct Lecturer for the Business Department and is interested in working closely with the Town’s workforce to develop programs and operational strategy to better serve Town residents.
Tom serves as an associate board member of Junior Achievement of New York and is a Trustee for the Christina Renna Foundation, a non-profit organization which assists in research for children’s cancer. He has also dedicated his time to the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes and United Way. He is a member of St. Rose of Lima R.C. parish in Massapequa and has been a resident of Massapequa Park since 1995, where he resides with his wife and two daughters.
