Town Clerk James Altadonna Jr. reminds residents that the Town Clerk’s Office is a designated Passport Acceptance Facility.
“Citizens may apply for their United States Passports at both Town Clerk offices, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, and 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,” Town Clerk Altadonna said. “The Clerk’s office is also open until 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday (Town Hall North) and the 4th Tuesday (Town Hall South) of every month. The Town Clerk noted the basic requirements for applying for a passport are as follows:
• One 2×2 color photograph with a clear view of the applicant’s face against a plain white or light colored background. The Clerk’s office provides passport photos for a fee of $10.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship – Previously issued undamaged U.S. passport, certified birth certificate, Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth, Naturalization Certificate, or Certificate of Citizenship.
• Proof of Identity – Previously issued, undamaged U.S. passport, Naturalization Certificate, Valid Driver’s License (cannot have been issued or renewed in the last six months), Current Government ID (city, state or federal), Current Military ID (military and dependants)
A U.S. Passport for persons 16 years of age and above is valid for 10 years and 5 years for those 15 years of age and under. Additional requirements must be met for children 15 and under.
