Saladino and Hand Announce September as Free Animal Adoption Month

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Thomas Hand today announced that the Town’s Animal Shelter will waive adoption fees throughout the month of September.

Supervisor Saladino stated, “We invite residents looking for a new pet to come down to the Town’s Animal Shelter during the month of September.  Our animal shelter has a wonderful reputation for providing great care to the pets housed there, and has a long history of uniting those looking for the perfect new furry companion!”

During the month of September, the shelter will waive the general adoption fees of $80 per dog and $84 per cat.  All usual adoption services will be provided, including the spaying or neutering of the animal, vaccination and microchipping

In addition to free adoption month, the Town will host a Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets at the Animal Shelter on September 15th from 10 am to 2 pm.  No reservations are necessary for the clinic.  To help ensure lost pets are returned to their proper owners, the clinic will also offer pet microchips for $25.

“This clinic provides an excellent opportunity for residents to ensure that their pets are protected against rabies,” added Councilman Hand.  “I urge all pet-owners to take advantage of this vaccination clinic and protect their furry loved ones.”

The Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter is located at 150 Miller Place in Syosset. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  To view photos of animals available for adoption, follow the Town of Oyster Bay on Facebook, visit www.oysterbaytown.com or call (516) 677-5784 for more information.
