Muscarella Announces Registration for Spring Co-Ed Yoga Classes

Residents looking for a low impact and enjoyable fitness activity are encouraged take part in the Town of Oyster Bay’s Yoga Classes, which will held this April, according to Town Councilman Joseph D. Muscarella. The Town’s Co-Ed Yoga classes are for individuals 18 years of age or older and will be held at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center at Bethpage Community Park.

“Yoga is terrific form of exercise that benefits mind, body and soul,” Councilman Muscarella said. “It builds strength, increases general flexibility and is considered a great stress reliever.”

Councilman Muscarella said that registration for the program will take place at the Town of Oyster Bay Hicksville Athletic Center, 167 Broadway in Hicksville, on Monday, March 5 and Wednesday, March 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. After these dates, registration will continue based on availability. Please note that the schedule may be subject to change and residents are encouraged to inquire about special holiday scheduling. The session is 10 weeks in length with a fee of $60 for residents and $70 for non-residents. Mats will not be provided, so participants must bring their own Yoga mat.

Yoga classes will be offered on Saturdays, starting with Saturday, April 14, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. If a session is cancelled due to inclement weather, a make-up session will be attempted.

“These healthy fitness programs are very popular among residents because it gives them an outlet to enjoy exercising and staying in shape, all while meeting new people,” Councilman Muscarella said. “It is always recommended that participants check with a physician before participating in any physical fitness program.”
