We join Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board in urging the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to resolve an urgent situation on a barrier island of Long Island in Massapequa, New York.

Our Town’s most precious and popular resource, TOBAY Beach in Massapequa, has suffered a loss of approximately 1 million cubic yards of sand.  Local engineers believe a change in wave currents contributed to this crisis and that such transformation is the result of dredged materials placed at West Gilgo Beach in the neighboring Town of Babylon.

We request your immediate assistance with respect to this matter as we know the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has the necessary expertise to investigate and resolve this issue immediately.

Signed,
