The 2017 Beach Season has ended.

During the off-season:

  • No lifeguards will be on duty
  • Amenities will not be available.
  • No fees will be collected at the toll booths.
  • Ramp fees will not be collected.

Parking fees and residency requirements apply starting at 8am weekends and holidays from May 27th to June 18th, then daily from June 24th to Sept. 4th. Town of Oyster Bay RESIDENTS pay $60 for the season or $20 daily.

Must present valid proof of active membership and current vehicle registration in his/her name to the Beach Division’s main office to obtain a special permit form. This special permit form will then be validated. After validation, the special permit form may be presented to the gate attendant at any Town beach selling seasonal beach stickers.

  • All Residents who are active members of a volunteer fire department located within the Town of Oyster Bay: Seasonal Sticker – $30.00
  • For Tappen Only, Non-Residents who are active members of a volunteer fire department located within New York State: Seasonal Sticker – $60.00 (Tappen only)
  • All active members of the Wantagh Fire Department: Seasonal Sticker – $60.00 (TOBAY only)

Military Veterans/Active Military Discounted Beach Stickers

Veterans must obtain a waiver from the Town of Oyster Bay Beach Division. The Veteran must present both a) a copy of an honorable discharge certificate, DD Form 214, or a membership card from any recognized veterans’ organization and b) their car registration. Active military service personnel seeking said discount must present both a) their current military identification card and b) their car registration.

  • All Residents who are Veterans/active military located within the Town of Oyster Bay:

  • For Tappen Only, Non-Residents who are Veterans/active military located within New York State:

Senior Citizen Beach Stickers

Senior Citizens 60 years or older, upon presentation of proof, shall be issued a permanent senior citizen’s ID card, which shall be issued by the Town Clerk and be of a photo-laminated type and pre-numbered at the one-time fee of $30.00 plus $2.00 photo fee. Senior citizens, by presenting these cards and their vehicle registration at the tollgates, shall be issued a seasonal beach sticker at no additional charge, which shall be affixed to the vehicle by the issuer. The vehicle registration presented for the beach sticker may be that of the senior or the senior’s spouse. At the time of issuing the senior citizen’s ID card, the Town Clerk will inform the senior that if the vehicle registration to be presented is that of the senior’s spouse, the senior will have to obtain from the Town Clerk, a special beach pass form and submit evidence that the registered owner of the vehicle is the spouse of the senior. ID showing that the senior and the registered owner have the same address may be required by the Town Clerk’s office when deemed necessary. In all cases, the sticker issued is to be affixed either to the vehicle registered to the senior or to the vehicle registered to the senior’s spouse. If no vehicle is owned by the senior or the senior’s spouse, the ID card becomes invalid. NOTE: When entering the beach facility using a sticker purchased for a senior, the senior must be present in the vehicle for admittance.

Disabled Persons Beach Stickers

Disabled Persons, who are residents of the Town of Oyster Bay, and have a permanent disability as certified in writing by a physician, may obtain a permanently disabled person’s identification card which shall be issued by the Town Clerk and be of a photo-laminated type and pre-numbered at a one-time cost of $30.00 plus $2.00 photo fee. Disabled persons, by presenting these cards and their vehicle registration at the tollgates, shall be issued a seasonal beach sticker at no additional charge, which shall be affixed to their vehicle by the issuer. Disabled persons who have obtained a permanently disabled identification card as described above, but are unable to drive, can obtain a seasonal sticker for the vehicle of an immediate family member who provides transportation for the disabled individual. This can be obtained only at the Beach division’s main office by presenting the permanently disabled identification card, vehicle registration of an immediate family member and documented proof as required. The sticker issued hereunder, shall be personal to the disabled person involved and not to the vehicle to which it is affixed.

Disabled Persons Under The Social Security Act – Any person who is a resident of the Town of Oyster Bay who is receiving disability insurance benefits under the Social Security Act, upon presentation of proof thereof, shall be issued a S.S.C. ID card, from the Town Clerk’s office, which shall be valid during the period of such disability at a one-time cost of $30.00 plus $2.00 photo fee. Upon presentation of the card and his or her vehicle registration at the toll gates, such persons shall be issued a seasonal beach sticker at no charge, which shall affixed to such person’s vehicle by the issuer.

Replacement Senior Citizen and Handicapped Beach Stickers

In the event that a replacement is required in connection with an original senior citizen or handicapped permit, a permit from the original senior citizen or handicapped sticker sequence shall be issued.

Replacement Beach Parking Stickers

Replacement beach parking stickers shall only be issued by gate attendants. Patron must submit satisfactory evidence of the original sticker, which shall be attached to the replacement stub. The original permit number shall be logged on the replacement stub. All other issues of replacement permits shall be made by the Commissioner of Parks.

Bus Permit Fee Schedule

Non-profit organizations based within the Town of Oyster Bay: $150.00 per bus, per season (Proof of non-profit status, such as 501c, required.)

All other organizations based within the Town of Oyster Bay: $150.00 per bus, per day

No charge shall be made for programs sponsored by the Town of Oyster Bay or school districts located within the Town.

The following guidelines pertain to the issuance of bus permits:

  • Organizations must have a minimum of 75% of participants residing in the Town.
  • Permits are limited to Mondays thru Thursdays, except for Holidays.
  • There is a five (5) bus limit, per day, for Tobay Beach. All permits are to be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.\\

The John F. Kennedy Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is a 550-acre stretch of protected wetlands. It is open year-round, but visitation hours are limited during June, July and August to after 6:00pm. Individuals and groups may visit the Bird Sanctuary located in Tobay Beach. A permit is required, which may be obtained by calling the Beach Division and requesting an application. You may also apply for a permit in person at Town Hall South. There is no charge for the permit.

Seasonal Dinghy, Canoe and Kayak Racks

Rentals begin March 1, 2018.  Contact the Parks Department’s Beaches Office in Town Hall South for rental applications.

Season runs from April 1, 2018, through December 31, 2018.

Resident: $150.00

Non-Resident: $300.00

Limit two kayaks per rack. All other vessels limit one.

How do I obtain a seasonal beach sticker?

Simply bring your car on which you would like the sticker placed, together with the corresponding car registration, to any of the following locations:

EARLY SALE OF BEACH STICKERS starts May 13, 2017 at the following facilities:
Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Beach (9am to 11am & 1pm to 2:30pm), John J. Burns Town Park (9am to 11am & 1pm to 2:30pm) and Tobay Beach (9am to 3pm).

Starting May 27, 2017, Beach Stickers will be sold during normal weekend beach operating hours at Tobay Beach, John J. Burns Town Park, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, Centre Island Beach and Philip B. Healey at Florence Avenue (see below for details). “Early Sale of Beach Stickers” will continue to be available weekdays at Tobay Beach (9am to 3pm), John J. Burns Town Park (9am to 11am & 1pm to 2:30pm) and Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park (9am to 11am & 1pm to 2:30pm).

Beach stickers will be available at ALL TOB Beach Facilities during normal operating hours starting on June 24, 2017.

Are seasonal beach stickers available for purchase at the Beach Division office?

No. Seasonal stickers for beaches are only available at our beach facilities.

What if my car is registered to my job? Can I still get a sticker?

Yes. Special waiver forms are available at the Town of Oyster Bay Town Clerk’s office and at the Parks Department’s Beach Division (located at Town Hall South). You are required to bring a letter from your employer, on company letterhead, stating that the company car is your primary vehicle, along with your proof of residency (tax bill, utility bills) and your driver’s license.

I have dual residences, can I get a sticker?

Yes. Just bring the car registration, your driver’s license and proof of residency (tax bill, utility bill) to either the Town Clerk’s office or the Parks Department’s Beach Division to obtain a special waiver.

Are there any discounts for beach stickers?

Yes. Resident volunteer firemen, auxiliary police, coast guard auxiliary, veterans and active military are all eligible for discounted seasonal beach stickers. Just bring valid identification or a DD 214, along with car registration to the Beach Division to obtain the form. Non-Resident volunteer firemen can also obtain a discounted beach sticker for Tappen Beach ONLY.

Those with a Social Security Disability Card AND/OR Adults 60 and older are eligible for free seasonal beach stickers with the purchase of a corresponding Town-issued Identification Card, which are available at the Town Clerk’s Office.

The Town of Oyster Bay also offers a free beach sticker to residents who drive cars classified as “Clean Pass Vehicles”. You must first contact the Town Clerk’s Office to provide and receive proper documentation to receive your free sticker.

How do I obtain a Senior Beach ID Card?

Senior Beach ID cards, available to residents 60 and older, can be obtained at the Town Clerk’s office for a one time fee of $30.00, plus $2.00 photo fee. This card entitles seniors to free seasonal beach and seasonal trailer stickers as long as they own a vehicle.

Where can I purchase a seasonal trailer sticker?

Seasonal trailer stickers are available for purchase at John J. Burns Town Park, Harry Tappen Beach and Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Beach. Simply bring the trailer registration, along with the trailer, to any of the above facilities.

How do I get a slip at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Marina/Harry Tappen Marina?

How do I obtain an entry card for my boat for the Joseph J. Saladino Memorial Marina at Tobay?

To obtain an entry card, you may either mail in the application (instructions), together with appropriate corresponding papers, or visit the Parks Department’s Beach Division, located at Town Hall South. Along with the application, an original boat registration, an original boat title, original tax bill, driver’s license and full payment are required.
