The Environmental Control Commission (ECC) was originally established in 1972 as a voluntary citizens group appointed by the Town Board to assist the Town in reviewing general environmental, conservation and preservation issues. When the Department of Environmental Resources was created in 2004, the commission was revitalized. The members, who are appointed by the Town Board, all have strong environmental backgrounds and provide the Town with valuable input on everything from open space Issues and water resources management to environmental planning and protection. The number of members is flexible and meetings are scheduled on an as needed basis. The Town Board appoints a chairperson from the membership. The Department of Environmental Resources provide administrative services for the commission.
