The Handicapped Services Division administers the Group Activities Program for the Handicapped (GAP), which provides a unique social-recreational experience for developmentally disabled town residents in a well supervised setting.

The focus of the GAP is group interaction.  These programs are offered at both north and south shore locations in the Town.  During the summer, the GAP provides a special six-week camp experience for children ages five to 21.  The program is offered at Town community parks on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  For further information, contact the Handicapped Services Division.

Between October and May, GAP offers an Over-21 Tuesday Evening Program, a Wednesday Evening Drama Program for those 16 and older, a Thursday Afternoon Bowling Program for ages five and up, and a Saturday Morning Swim Program for everyone.  There are additional programs once a month for those ages five to 15, and for ages 16 and older.  Once a month a Saturday Night Respite Program is held for those age groups as well.
